Saheeh International

1. وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى

   But the wretched one will avoid it

   الأعلى ١١

2. ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ

   [He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,

   الأعلى ١٢

3. ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ

   Neither dying therein nor living.

   الأعلى ١٣

4. قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ

   He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself

   الأعلى ١٤

5. وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ

   And mentions the name of his Lord and prays.

   الأعلى ١٥

6. بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

   But you prefer the worldly life,

   الأعلى ١٦

7. وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ

   While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

   الأعلى ١٧

8. إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ

   Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,

   الأعلى ١٨

9. صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ

   The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

   الأعلى ١٩

10. هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ

    Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?

    الغاشية ١

11. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ

    [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,

    الغاشية ٢

12. عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ

    Working [hard] and exhausted.

    الغاشية ٣

13. تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً

    They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.

    الغاشية ٤

14. تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ

    They will be given drink from a boiling spring.

    الغاشية ٥

15. لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍ

    For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant

    الغاشية ٦

16. لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍ

    Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.

    الغاشية ٧

17. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ

    [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.

    الغاشية ٨

18. لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ

    With their effort [they are] satisfied

    الغاشية ٩

19. فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ

    In an elevated garden,

    الغاشية ١٠

20. لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَـٰغِيَةً

    Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.

    الغاشية ١١

21. فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ

    Within it is a flowing spring.

    الغاشية ١٢

22. فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَّرْفُوعَةٌ

    Within it are couches raised high

    الغاشية ١٣

23. وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ

    And cups put in place

    الغاشية ١٤

24. وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ

    And cushions lined up

    الغاشية ١٥

25. وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

    And carpets spread around.

    الغاشية ١٦

26. أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

    Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?

    الغاشية ١٧

27. وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

    And at the sky - how it is raised?

    الغاشية ١٨

28. وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

    And at the mountains - how they are erected?

    الغاشية ١٩

29. وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ

    And at the earth - how it is spread out?

    الغاشية ٢٠

30. فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌ

    So remind, [O Muḥammad]; you are only a reminder.

    الغاشية ٢١

31. لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ

    You are not over them a controller.

    الغاشية ٢٢
