Saheeh International

1. وَٱلْعَصْرِ

   By time,

   العصر 1

2. إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ

   Indeed, mankind is in loss,

   العصر 2

3. إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ

   Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

   العصر 3

4. وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ

   Woe to every scorner and mocker

   الهمزة 1

5. ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ

   Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.

   الهمزة 2

6. يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَهُۥ

   He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

   الهمزة 3

7. كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ

   No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.

   الهمزة 4

8. وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحُطَمَةُ

   And what can make you know what is the Crusher?

   الهمزة 5

9. نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ

   It is the fire of Allāh, [eternally] fueled,

   الهمزة 6

10. ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ

    Which mounts directed at the hearts.

    الهمزة 7

11. إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ

    Indeed, it [i.e., Hellfire] will be closed down upon them

    الهمزة 8

12. فِى عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍۭ

    In extended columns.

    الهمزة 9

13. أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْفِيلِ

    Have you not considered, [O Muḥammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?

    الفيل 1

14. أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍ

    Did He not make their plan into misguidance?

    الفيل 2

15. وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ

    And He sent against them birds in flocks,

    الفيل 3

16. تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ

    Striking them with stones of hard clay,

    الفيل 4

17. فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍۭ

    And He made them like eaten straw.

    الفيل 5
